My name is Gabor. I have spent the last 15+ years working in IT, mainly as a system administrator, but I have also dealt with networks, virtualization, security compliance, and everything else that was needed. I learned most by messing things up and then fixing them. This is probably the best method, which proved effective in my case.

I started this blog because I wanted to write down what I had to say. In my experience, writing helps me organize my thoughts, and something useful may even come out of it.

What I write about here is mostly related to privacy, my own infrastructure and server operation. Sometimes I stray into other areas like digital habits, online lifestyle and similar topics. These are small things that add up.

The defining principle for me is that I am suspicious of any convenience that comes with a loss of control. This is reflected in how I operate my servers and probably in how I view most things.

I have a day job. I rent. This is the place where I think out loud.
